Jessica Jane is a painter and installation artist. She was born in Sydney, Australia, moved to New York when she was two, and has lived her life between these two cities. Referencing a background in literature, fine art and architecture, Jane’s work immerses us in landscape, habitation, construction, reproduction, mark making, fairy tales, refuse piles, disaster scenes, and desire. She compliments her studio practice with independent curating projects, and is a guest blogger on regional contemporary art for www.happeninginthehills.com. Jane has a Masters in Architecture from Yale University, and joint undergraduate degrees in Visual Arts and English Literature from Sydney University, Australia. Recent group shows include Farm Fresh at The Gallery, Morris, CT, 2013, and CARAVAN at the Cornwall Bridge Gallery, in Cornwall, CT, 2013, LivWill Art Popup, 2012, in Litchfield, CT, and an Artspace: Torrington residency in 2011- which was the predecessor to today’s Five Points gallery. In 2009, Jane showed at the Washington Art Association, participating in their First Annual Juried show, with work selected by juror Richard Klein of the Aldrich Museum. Recent curatorial work includes CARAVAN 2012 at the Cornwall Bridge Gallery, in Cornwall, CT, several group shows at the Switch Factory Studio, in Bantam CT, collaborations with jane:terzian projects at Switch Factory Studio as well as Art Night Out Litchfield, a town-wide art exhibition in local retail and restaurant outlets.
