Chris Cox. The young artist. With a beard. And a day job.
Dig down and find your inner Marcel Duchamp. There’s definitely some sort of Duchamp’s DNA in his art.
All objects have meaning unless of course they don’t. Doesn’t matter, standing in front of one of Chris’s pieces is a moment to enjoy and to enjoy thinking.
The artist describes two of the pieces in the exhibit below…
” ‘A.O.K’ The saying/answer ‘A O.K.’ was something that always amused me. The phrase is basically recalling the alphabet way out of order, but its meaning insinuates balance and order. It’s a little contradiction that is visualized with its parts out of order to bring the misnomer a bit more attention. When someone says “I’m OK”, that’s a vague response to something they don’t want to be completely honest about. It’s like a condensed version of saying, ‘I’m not good, but not bad; that’s not good, but not bad’ a picky choosey way to be vague, but in a short sweet answer.
‘The Light Is On the Inside’ is a child-like thought visualized into an idea. The light is the mind, and the visualization of light through the eyes into the mirror represents the ability to see” that”.
The beauty of a paradox is that it places the task, or the joy, of perception upon the viewer. These pieces are best viewed with curiosity and no baggage. The light is on the inside. Where else would it be? E.B.K.

Preparator/ Art Handler: – Working as an art handler in the Exhibition Design Dept. of the Wadsworth prepping gallery space, hanging and installing paintings, sculptures and installations as well as packing and crating artwork to be shipped out. Working as an art handler for the Registrars Dept. crating and transporting work within the building along with light conservation work of glass and furniture art objects.

Preparator/ Art Handler: – Worked with the Visual Arts Manager and the working Artist to handle, prep and install all mediums of artwork. Worked with the other art handler to ship and crate artwork along with prepping, building and lighting the gallery spaces.
