Tim Wengertsman | EBK Gallery [May 25 – June 30, 2012]

Tim Wengertsman | Exhibition Archive: May 25 – June 30, 2012

During May 25 to June 30, 2012 on view in the gallery will be an exhibit of wood block prints by artist Tim Wengertsman. Each piece is printed on Japanese mulberry paper and is pulled from a carved block after hand burnishing the inked block. What is striking about these pieces other than the frankness of them, is the large size and detail that the artist is able to acheive on most of them. And if that wasn’t enough, all of the images are carved in reverse to produce what the viewer sees on paper.

The images shown on this page (below) are the same as the actual pieces that were on view in the gallery from May 25th to June 30th.

“…there is no standard of what art should look like,
there is no standard of how people should look,
there is no standard of what we should like. Do what you want.
I want to give my subculture a voice.”     Tim
